In an era where digital transformation is accelerating, ensuring that everyone has equitable access to technology is paramount. The Building European Digital Inclusion and Trust (BEDiGiT) project, co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union (Project #: 2023-2-ES01-KA210-VET-00018100), is at the forefront of this mission, developing innovative strategies to bridge the digital divide across Europe.
BEDiGiT’s journey began with an in-depth analysis of the current digital landscape in Europe. By conducting surveys and focus groups across Spain, Cyprus, and Ireland, the project identified key barriers to digital accessibility, including affordability, usability, and inclusivity challenges. This research also highlighted gaps in digital literacy, particularly in areas like cybersecurity and online privacy, and underscored the need for greater awareness of sustainable digital practices.
Building on these insights, BEDiGiT is crafting specialized training modules aimed at:
- Democratic Participation: Encouraging active and secure engagement in online democratic processes.
- Digital Inclusion: Empowering individuals with the skills to navigate and utilize digital tools effectively.
- Sustainability: Promoting eco-friendly digital habits and responsible e-waste management.

Recognizing the importance of community involvement, BEDiGiT is organizing Digital Champions Workshops. These sessions aim to equip participants with the knowledge and tools to become advocates for digital inclusion within their communities, ensuring the project’s impact is both widespread and sustainable.
The success of BEDiGiT is bolstered by its consortium of partners, including Vernian, a key contributor to the project’s research and development efforts.
